Sunday, October 20, 2024 Blue, Bunny & I took a quick trip to Oneonta, NY to play some AKC FastCAT. It was a gorgeous day, sunny, light breeze and warm. The club Del-Otse-Nango Kennel Club always puts on a wonderful event, even if it is a 3+ hour trip each way. Blue had a personal best time of 7.92 seconds and earned his first FastCAT title: BCAT. Bunny, coming off from motherhood, is still a little out of shape, but still loved chasing the bunnies and had very respectable times in the 8-9 second range.
Pups are all gone to their new homes. I kept one of the little girls and one of the boys. They are great little puppies, and are very happy in their new homes.
Our mission is to breed healthy American Eskimo Dogs following the AKC and UKC Breed Standard. Our dogs are DNA tested, have CAER eye testing, and OFA xrays of hips, elbows, and patellas.
We have been involved with American Eskimos and dog sports for almost 20 years, starting out with a little rescue Eskie named Becky in 2005. She was quite the handful; she put the "I" in northern breed Independence! Sunstruck American Eskimos was born! We competed in competition obedience because she seriously needed the structure of obedience. Little did I know that would create a monster. We went from obedience, where she earned her AKC CD (Companion Dog) to the then, brand new event called Rally-O, then Tracking, and Agility in multiple venues. From there we added FastCAT, Scentwork (in multiple venues), and Conformation. Our first Conformation Champion was sweet, sweet Bumble, followed by Bunny, Buzz, Bella, and Blue. Once I started competing in Agility we adopted our 2nd Eskie and became a foster home to over 25 rescue Eskies, each one reinforcing how much we loved this breed. Sadly, rescue Eskies mainly come in two ages, just out of the cute, adorable polar bear stage between 8 months and 2 years when they are starting to get gangly and leggy while waiting for their body to develop and they are no longer these adorable floofs of fun and are now unruly teenagers and seniors who have been discarded. We still rescue and foster, we are committed to finding homes for all Eskies, not just the ones we breed. Our puppies are raised in a loving home we share with other Eskies and kitties. We are dedicated to providing our puppies with the best start in life through socialization and to helping families find the perfect addition to their home.
We specialize in breeding only American Eskimos. Each breed is unique, and Eskies are no exception! We take pride in matching each puppy with the right family. Our puppies are raised in a family environment and come with a health guarantee. All puppies are dual registered, American Kennel Club (AKC) and United Kennel Club (UKC). The puppies will have 'PR' (Purple Ribbon) designated in their name by the UKC. Purple Ribbon
"Purple Ribbon" is a distinction UKC gives to a dog if all 14 ancestors within a dog's three generation pedigree (parents, grandparents, great grandparents) are each registered with United Kennel Club, and are of the same breed.
Purple Ribbon is indicated by the letters 'PR' at the beginning of a dog's name and also by a comma (,) instead of a dash (-) within the dog's UKC number.
A complete Seven Generation pedigree (showing 254 ancestors) will be available.
We understand that bringing home a new puppy can be overwhelming. That's why we provide comprehensive resources and support to help you and your puppy succeed. From feeding and grooming to training and socialization, we're here to help.
Training is essential for your puppy's development, and more so for a Northern Breed which has a reputation for being stubborn. We can suggest a range of training facilities to help your puppy become a well-behaved and obedient adult dog. Puppy owners are encouraged to enroll their puppy into puppy class as soon as possible. Starting off with the AKC Star Puppy classes (or equivalent), and following through with either the AKC CGC or the UKC SPOT program. Each program ensures a happy, well balanced puppy, which will turn into a happy, well balanced dog who will be welcomed all over. Each puppy comes with a free 45 min online consultation with a trainer to get you started.
We want to ensure that each of our puppies goes to a loving and caring home. Our application process is designed to ensure that each family is the right fit for one of our puppies. We work closely with each family to make the adoption process as smooth as possible. A
